The Story of Pandora Box
In ancient Greece there were two brothers named Epimetheus and Prometheus. They upset the gods and annoyed the most powerful of all Gods, Zeus, in particular. This was not the first time humans had upset Zeus, and once before, as punishment, he had taken from humans the ability to make fire. This meant they could no longer cook their meat and could not keep themselves warm.
However, Prometheus was clever and he knew that, on the Isle of Lemnos, lived Hephaestos, the blacksmith. He had a fire burning to keep his forge hot. Prometheus travelled to Lemnos and stole fire from the blacksmith. Zeus was furious and decided that humans had to be punished once and for all for their lack of respect.
Zeus came up with a very cunning plan to punish the two brothers. With the help of Hephaestos, he created a woman from clay. The goddess Athene then breathed life into the clay, Aphrodite made her very beautiful and Hermes taught her how to be both charming and deceitful. Zeus called her Pandora and sent her as a gift to Epimetheus.
His brother Prometheus had warned him not to accept any gifts from the gods but Epimetheus was completely charmed by the woman and thought Pandora was so beautiful that she could never cause any harm, so he agreed to marry her.
Zeus, pleased that his trap was working, gave Pandora a wedding gift of a beautiful box. There was one very, very important condition however, that she must never opened the box. Pandora was very curious about the contents of the box but she had promised that she would never open it.
All she could think about was; what could be in the box? She could not understand why someone would send her a box if she could not see what was in it. It seemed to make no sense at all to her and she could think of nothing else but of opening the box and unlocking its secrets. This was just what Zeus had planned.
Finally, Pandora could stand it no longer. When she knew Epimetheus was out of sight, she crept up to the box, took the huge key off the high shelf, fitted it carefully into the lock and turned it. But, at the last moment, she felt a pang of guilt, imagined how angry her husband would be and quickly locked the box again without opening the lid and put the key back where she had found it. Three more times she did this until, at last, she knew she had to look inside or she would go completely mad!
She took the key, slid it into the lock and turned it. But there was no gleam of gold or treasure. There were no shining bracelets and not one beautiful dress! The look of excitement on her face quickly turned to one of disappointment and then horror. For Zeus had packed the box full of all the terrible evils he could think of. Out of the box poured disease and poverty. Out came misery, out came death, out came sadness - all shaped like tiny buzzing moths.
The creatures stung Pandora over and over again and she slammed the lid shut. Epimetheus ran into the room to see why she was crying in pain. Pandora could still hear a voice calling to her from the box, pleading with her to be let out. Epimetheus agreed that nothing inside the box could be worse than the horrors that had already been released, so they opened the lid once more.
All that remained in the box was Hope. It fluttered from the box like a beautiful dragonfly, touching the wounds created by the evil creatures, and healing them. Even though Pandora had released pain and suffering upon the world, she had also allowed Hope to follow them.

I'm A GEEK!
I'm Back!!!!
With a Geek-ish look to amuse readers.
Recently, one of my former favourite haunts in Singapore has been closed down. Bye...Borders, Singapore.
With the influx of on-line books and magazines made available, prints might be obsolete in time to come.
I'm one of the guilty souls. I've stopped buying periodicals and books to read.
Yet....Occasionally, I looked forward to flipping those pages in magazines and books.
Well, I'm a true blue GEEK after all....

Recovering from Blogger's dry spell
I call it the Blogger's Dry Spell. I was not very productive in blogging for the past 3 weeks. No inspiration, No motivation to write, No time to dedicate to blogging. Something is amiss.
It all started after I left Singapore for a short trip to Malaysia. I visited Pulai Spring Golf resort and had a good time there. The following week was a busy week with deadlines to meet one after another. Even with the little pockets of time left, I had to entertain the young ones. Just as I'm writing this post, little princess is asking me to sharpen her color pencils. And I'm supervising little prince charming with this Kumon Maths homework.
I took these pictures night before I left for the resort. Since it is going to be just a weekend getaway, I kept things simple. A Kate Spade large tote bag was roomy enough. My Topshop clutch to hold my passport and money. My sleeping bag which follows me whenever I travel. I dislike the thought of sleeping on 'communal' bed sheet. My pink Ray Ban sunnies to protect my eyes. A mini mahjong set to keep my friends and me awake at night. Simple, no-fuss clothes and swimming wear for the pool. All packed into the tote.
Time fast forward. Days later, I met a few buddies for Thai Steamboat. Something new to all of us.
And OMG, the chilli dips come in different degrees of spiciness. The lighter the color, the more spicy it is. Food can be BBQ on top of the pot and soup at the brim of the pot. Yummy and the chilli adds to the kick. After dinner, we were unwilling to end our gossip session and walked across the street to a Hong Kong Cafe located opposite the Thai Steamboat Restaurant. Peanut Butter Toast, Condensed Milk and Butter Toast and drinks to end the night in a sweet note.

My Bvlgari Ring is finally here!
I've been talking about my long awaited ring some time ago. It has finally arrived! The Save The Children Ring is specially designed by the Rome-based jeweler. It is made of silver and ceramics. The ring features Save The Children Logo on the inside. Acquiring the ring makes me feel that I'm doing some good for the children who are in need of some financial help.Check out their website Bvlgari Philanthrophy - Save The Children to find out more about their campaigns.

My "Cerebro" hair treatment and a night out with the 'Royals'
How did my hair turn out after 5 hours of torture? I loveeee it.
I'm a lazy person who hate to style my hair. I blame it on my laziness and the rush mornings. I need to get out of the house within 30 minutes from the time I wake up. 30 minutes to wash up, change, apply make-up and dash out of the house. This hairstyle suits my hectic morning just fine. No styling required! No excess brushing!
All I need to do is to brush my hair once after every hair wash and leave it as it is till the next shampooing session.
I'm as happy as a lark. In the evening, I met with some friends (aka The Royals) for supper at The Pump Room. Yummy food, prefect companions, great hair day, what else can a girl ask for?
1) An hour after perming my hair. ( Pardon the spelling error 'treatment' in the speech bubble ,an eye-sore to me)
2) An old, comfy tee I wore to the salon
3) Pork Belly
4) Hot Wings
5) Mashed Potato
6) Spaghetti
7) Cheesy Fries
8) Mocktails

China Glaze (Pink Crackle)
I've always been an OPI fan. After reading a few blogs about the amazing crackle nail effect, I wanted to experiment it on my own nails. I did my research on which brand is better. Who knows best but the nail polish sales assistant! I found a shop in the mall which has both OPI and China Glaze. The sales assistant showed me samples from OPI and China Glaze. From my opinion, China Glaze produces a nicer crackle effects.
My hair needed to be permed. The whole perming process would take 5 hours. To utilize the time, I applied the nail polish and by the time my hair was ready, my nails were done too. Did you do similar things too so as not to waste time?
A friend of mine commented that this picture reminds him of Cerebro from X-MEN. A silver machine used to read the brain. See the similarities?
1) China Glaze Broken Hearted as the top coat.
2) China Glaze Glitters as the Base.
3) OPI Topcoat

My First TOD's D bag ( Red Siren!!!)
Before I officially introduce my TOD's D bag, I need to apologize to Yoana of dressing everyday. It seems that there's some technical issues with Blogger again. My blog was visited by a Japanese fellow blogger friend from color of glass 32 times in a day and 65 times in a week. According to Yoana, my Blogger 'bug' visited her blog for 12 times in a day. What's new? Blogger always has some technical issues every now and then. It will resolve by itself.
BUT Sometimes, IT CAN BE TOO MUCH!!! So, I'm shouting it out loud with TEARS FOR FEARS. Enjoy the music.
Happy Mode again... I'm turning to Dr Jerkyll , Mr Hyde soon...Pissed with Blogger server at one moment, Pleased with my loot now...
